Remember when so many video game websites noticed the trademark and assumed it was future Skyrim DLC? The core fans among us knew it was TES:6 =PĪs far as wild rumors go… this actually sounds pretty solid. “Redguard” is the only TES-related trademark Zenimax own that isn’t either dead or in use with a released game. All other older TES game trademarks are inactive (Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire). This is not an old trademark from the Elder Scrolls Adventures game of the same name-it is an active and constantly renewed trademark. “Oblivion” was first trademarked in 2002, “Skyrim” was first trademarked in 2006, “Redguard” was first trademarked in 2011. They’ve always trademarked the name of the next TES game the same year they release one. If it interests you, TES:6 is called Redguard too. A commenter on Kotaku, -Silver-, dug up this fact, and he put it very well: Whatever mystery existed behind the “Redguard” name in 2013… still exists. In fact, they’ve renewed it more than once. Especially when they trademarked the name “Redguard.” Indeed, we were expecting more: Skyrim ultimately had probably slightly less DLC than Oblivion, and we knew it would be years before another big Bethesda game came out, so it seemed likely that the company would milk Skyrim a little harder. The big Skyrim DLC had just come out, and everyone was clamoring for more.
